Pay Us First! AAUA ASUU Refuse Resume, Declare Total Strike

Serious academic wahala don land for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) as lecturers under Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don declare total and indefinite strike over failure to implement the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.

AAUA ASUU Chairman, Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi, confirm the development on Tuesday for Akure, saying lecturers no go return classroom until Ondo State Government begin implement the agreement and pay all outstanding arrears.

The fresh strike come barely one week after the union suspend another industrial action wey dem start because of unpaid salary backlog. Although government later clear some outstanding salaries, ASUU say the main issue wey concern the 2025 agreement still remain untouched.

According to Oshodi, the union don write several letters, seek meetings and give government enough time to act, but nothing serious don happen concerning implementation of the agreement.

Him talk say lecturers no go accept sweet mouth promises again, insisting say only concrete action fit make dem return lecture halls.

The union don officially declare indefinite, total and comprehensive strike because Ondo State Government never implement the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.

If dem no implement the agreement and pay all arrears wey start from January till now, lecturers no go resume work, Oshodi talk.

The union chairman also question why Ondo State never follow other states wey don already begin implement the salary package and welfare improvements contained in the agreement.

According to am, many state governments don start compliance, so e no make sense why Ondo State, wey be oil-producing state, still dey drag leg.

ASUU however say dem still dey open for discussion, but negotiation alone no go make lecturers resume.

The 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement carry better salary package for university lecturers, including 40% salary increase plus payment of all salary arrears wey don pile up.

With this fresh strike, learning fit suffer serious setback for AAUA as lectures don stop completely. Students and parents now dey watch closely to see whether Ondo State Government go quickly settle the matter before the strike turn long-term wahala and scatter the academic calendar.
