President Bola Tinubu on Thursday receive the outgoing President of ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Touray, for Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, as the regional bloc oga dey prepare to hand over power after four years for office.
According to pictures wey State House media team release, Touray waka enter Presidential Villa with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, for the meeting with Tinubu.
Though nobody open mouth tell journalists wetin dem discuss behind closed doors, the meeting happen just few weeks before Touray go officially hand over the leadership of ECOWAS Commission to another person.
Dr Touray, wey be seasoned diplomat from The Gambia, start work as President of ECOWAS Commission on July 3, 2022, after ECOWAS leaders agree with one voice make e lead the regional body for the 2022–2026 tenure.
Na him replace former ECOWAS Commission President, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou from Côte d’Ivoire, wey serve from 2018 reach 2022.
Before Touray land the top ECOWAS job, the Gambian diplomat don serve as him country representative for United Nations (UN), where e dey represent The Gambia for important international matters.
E later become Foreign Affairs Minister under former Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh, before dem sack am from the position for September 2009.
