Dangote Petroleum Refinery don stop to sell petrol to major oil marketers wey still dey bring petrol from outside Nigeria.
The refinery say e no go continue to dey sell petrol to marketers wey dey mix Dangote petrol with imported fuel.
According to one source, Dangote no wan make im high-quality petrol mix with imported petrol wey the refinery believe say quality no reach the same level.
Another source say Dangote don prefer to dey sell petrol give members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, and other marketers wey no dey import petrol.
The update na part of the reason wey carry oil marketers go court to ask make Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, continue to give dem licence to import petrol.
The marketers dey fear say dem fit run short of petrol if dem no fit import, especially as Dangote refinery don stop to dey supply fuel give them.
Dangote refinery don earlier warn say e fit stop business with petrol importers wey e accuse of mixing its Euro-5 petrol with imported fuel.
The refinery say mixing the products fit make am difficult for people to know which petrol come directly from Dangote and which one third parties don mix or handle.
Dangote had also questioned why the refinery go spend plenty money to produce high-quality petrol for Nigerians, only for people to mix am with imported petrol wey quality no clear and later link the mixed product to Dangote.
But some petrol importers and marketers don kick against the decision.
Dem accuse Dangote of trying to block imported petrol from entering Nigeria and challenge the refinery to show evidence say imported petrol for the country no meet the required quality standard.
One marketer say Dangote no suppose tell consumers whether dem fit mix petrol from different suppliers.
The marketer use example of person wey buy petrol from TotalEnergies filling station and later buy another one from MRS when the first petrol almost finish. He ask whether TotalEnergies fit stop the person from mixing the two products.
Another marketer say Federal Government get responsibility to make sure say petrol dey available for Nigerians, adding say petrol import still dey important whenever local production no fit meet demand.
National Vice Chairman of IPMAN, Hamed Fashola, say Dangote refinery dey selective about the people wey e sell petrol to because no be all major marketers dey import fuel.
Fashola also talk say independent marketers dey buy petrol from anywhere wey dem see better price, whether na Dangote refinery or importers.
He say, “We dey buy our product where it dey cheap,” explaining say marketers dey always look for the best price.
Meanwhile, IPMAN National Publicity Secretary, Chinedu Ukadike, say he believe Dangote refinery still dey open for business and go continue to sell petrol to marketers.
Ukadike say he no fit confirm whether importers dey mix Dangote petrol with imported petrol because independent marketers no dey involved in petrol import at the moment.
He add say if Dangote get any way wey e wan use to stop people from mixing or spoiling the quality of petroleum products, the refinery and its experts know the best thing to do.
