Di Federal Government don announce on Tuesday, June 25, say dem go relocate di Keffi Medium Security Custodial Centre and other facilities wey dey among di country’s 256 custodial centres.

Di Keffi centre wey dem establish for 1820 na one of di many custodial facilities wey expansion of urban areas don affect. Di Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, na him make di announcement during inspection of di Keffi facility.

Di centre don recently undergo rehabilitation, including construction of new perimeter fence to enhance security.

Minister Tunji-Ojo also visit di 3,000-capacity Karshi Custodial Centre for Abuja. E emphasize government commitment to ensure maximum security within custodial centres across di country.

Di Keffi Custodial Centre dey hold 750 inmates, even though e capacity na only 340 inmates. Out of di 750 inmates, 605 dey await trial.

Di overcrowding issue dey highlight di urgent need for di planned relocations and improvements.
